Irvine native Panisa, San Diego’s Deckhut selected in 2021 NAHL Supplemental Draft

 

nahl_supplemental_2021The North American Hockey League held its supplemental draft Tuesday, and two California natives was chosen.

With their first pick, the returning Springfield Jr. Blues selected Jonathan Panisa, a forward who last played for Springfield and the USHL’s Des Moines Buccaneers in 2019-20, with the sixth overall choice.

Springfield elected to not play the 2020-21 season due to the pandemic.

Panisa, an Irvine native, played for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, California Wave and Beckman High School during his youth career.

In addition, the St. Cloud Norsemen chose San Diego native and Los Angeles Jr. Kings and San Diego Jr. Gulls alum Sam Deckhut in the second round (51st overall).

Last season, Deckhut skated for the Rochester Coalition 18U AAA team in New York. He’s committed to NCAA Division I St. Lawrence University (ECAC Hockey).
