Jr. Sharks grad, Alameda product Wong-Ramos to continue hockey journey at NCAA D-III Trine

 

Sheridan Hawks goaltender Cristian Wong-Ramos has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Trine University.

The 20-year-old Wong-Ramos joined the NA3HL’s Hawks after starting the 2020-21 season with the NAHL’s New Mexico Ice Wolves. The Alameda native played in four NAHL regular-season games for New Mexico the first half of this past season.

He then joined the Texas RoadRunners for six games during the second half of the season before being traded to Sheridan.

For the remainder of the 2020-21 regular season, Wong-Ramos went 10-0-0 with one shutout and had an impressive .938 save percentage for the Hawks. During the postseason in the Fraser Cup Playoffs, Wong-Ramos played eight games going 5-1-0-1 with a .934 save percentage.

After playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 18U team for two seasons, Wong-Ramos made his junior hockey debut during the 2019-20 season in the NAHL with the Janesville Jets, appearing in four games.

During his youth hockey career, Wong-Ramos played for the San Jose Jr. Sharks.
