Palos Verdes native, Jr. Kings, Wildcats graduate Metcalfe advances hockey career, commits to NCAA D-I UConn

Shreveport Mudbugs defenseman Aidan Metcalfe has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Connecticut (Hockey East).

Metcalfe just completed his second and final season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL for the Robertson Cup champion Mudbugs.

“Aidan plays a very consistent brand of hockey that consists of subtle but effective plays,” said Shreveport head coach Jason Campbell. “He will take hits to make plays and play a tough brand of hockey. He’ll be a great teammate and the community will love him.”

The native of Palos Verdes posted 18 points (all assists) in 55 games during the 2020-21 season. He also added four points in 10 Robertson Cup Playoff games in helping the Mudbugs to the title.

During the 2019-20 season, Metcalfe was named to the NAHL All-South Division Rookie Team thanks to a stellar rookie season that included 23 points (goal, 22 assists) in 43 games.

As a youth hockey standout in California, Metcalfe played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings and the Wildcats Hockey Club.
