California natives Voyatzis, Alexander collect weekly USPHL accolades

Two California natives have picked up weekly honors from the USPHL.

Ogden Mustangs forward Dimitri Voyatzis (Fountain Valley) is the Mountain Division Forward of the Week and Rockets Hockey Club blueliner John Alexander (Los Angeles) is the Mid-Atlantic Elite Defenseman of the Week.

The 2003-born Voyatzis led the way for Ogden this weekend, finishing with five points (three goals, two assists) in two games. Voyatzis continues to be a major power-play weapon, notching two of his three goals on the power play. His seven power-play goals are good for third in the USPHL Premier as Voyatzis continues to climb the scoring charts in his second year with the ‘Stangs, with 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) through 18 games.

Back home, Voyatzis skated for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks.

Alexander, also a 2003 birth year, had assists in two straight games facing off against the Richmond Generals, bringing the Rockets a 2-0 shutout Saturday.

During his youth hockey career, Alexander played for the Jr. Ducks and Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
