California products Voyatzis, Dill, O’Neil collect weekly honors from USPHL

A trio of California products have been named weekly award winners for their play in last weekend’s USPHL games.

Ogden Mustangs forward Dimitri Voyatzis is the Mountain Division Forward of the Week, while Charlotte Rush forward Zach Dill is the Southeast Division Forward of the Week and Florida Jr. Blades goalie Philip O’Neil the Florida Elite Division Goaltender of the Week.

Voyatzis, a 2003 birth year from Fountain Valley, registered two goals and two assists for four points, scoring in a win and a shootout loss during a three-game set with the Pueblo Bulls. Voyatzis has points in five of his six February games and 36 points in 41 games.

Back home, Voyatzis played for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks.

Dill, an ’01 out of South Lake Tahoe, who had 51 points for the national champion Rush last year, came back to play his first game on Feb. 12 and put up a 3-2-5 line against the Richmond Generals. He also had one more assist on Feb. 13 for six points so far in this new season for the returning champ.

During his youth hockey days, Dill played for the Golden State Elite Eagles and Tahoe Prep Academy.

O’Neil, a 2003-born Californian, stopped 31 of 34 shots in a win against the Atlanta MadHatters over the weekend for his second straight win and fifth overall this season.

Prior to junior hockey, O’Neil played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings and California Wave.
