A pair of California natives have been selected to the ECAC Hockey Preseason All-League Team on the eve of the 2021-22 season.

Senior forwards Tanner Gates (Colgate) and Dominique Petrie (Harvard) made the team and look to be key components of their respective teams this season.

Gates finished last season with 12 assists, tied for the team lead, and also tied for third-best in the ECAC. The Oceanside native also earned Best Defenseman and All-League First Team honors.

Petrie finished the 2019-20 season leading the Crimson with 23 assists and ranking second in points (35) and power-play points (9). She was one of just 15 ECAC Hockey players to notch a hat trick during the season and the Hermosa Beach native earned Second Team All-ECAC Hockey and Second Team All-Ivy recognition.

During their youth hockey careers, both players skated for the San Diego Jr. Gulls with Petrie also seeing time with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings and Anaheim Jr. Ducks.
