Jr. Ducks alum Belanger signs with WHL’s Hitmen, ‘has strong leadership potential’

The WHL’s Calgary Hitmen have signed 2010-born forward Gabriel Belanger.

Calgary drafted Belanger with their first pick (21st overall) in the 2025 WHL U.S. Priority Draft. A product of Wasilla, Alaska, Belanger finished the 2024-25 season with Detroit Little Caesars, registering over a point per game with 109 points (51 goals, 58 assists) in 82 games.

“We are thrilled and humbled that Gabriel and his family have chosen Calgary to continue his development,” said Hitmen GM Garry Davidson “Gabriel has all the tools to become an impactful power-forward in the Western League including hockey sense, competitiveness and skill. Most importantly, Gabriel is a high character person who has strong leadership potential.”

Also during his youth hockey days, Belanger skated for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks.
