Jr. Kings alum, El Segundo native Greenberg signs with OHL’s Attack
The OHL’s Owen Sound Attack have announced the signing of defenseman Lenny Greenberg.
An El Segundo native, the 2005-born Greenberg is excited to start with the Attack.
“I always pictured myself playing NCAA hockey since a young age and when I got the opportunity to leave home at 15 to attend boarding school for hockey, it was all in the hopes of chasing that college dream,” said Greenberg.
Greenberg, a Los Angeles Jr. Kings alum, said that the recent NCAA rule change, playing in leagues such as the OHL is now a possible reality.
“Being a California kid, I never really thought of the OHL as an option,” he said. “I’m very excited to have the opportunity to play for the Attack in the best developmental junior league in the world. I’m pumped to keep working on my game within a great organization with great coaches and to keep getting stronger to prepare myself for college.”
The previous two hockey seasons, Greenberg has played 85 games for the BCHL’s Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
“I feel fortunate at this time when we needed to bring in a defenseman that we were able to sign and bring in a player of Lenny’s caliber,” said Attack GM Dale DeGray. “As a 19-year-old, he will being a maturity level and puck moving ability we are looking for. Lenny is an NCAA Sacred Heart commitment and we feel fortunate to have him suiting up for the Attack.”
