In the Sacred Heart University weekend series at then-No. 12 Boston University, freshman Hunter Sansbury showed off his defensive skills for the Pioneers.

The defenseman tallied five blocked shots and four shots on goal in the Pioneer’s two-game series to earn Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week.

It’s the first weekly honor for Sansbury and the second by a Pioneer this season.

The Lomita native led the Pioneers in blocked shots on the weekend and sits tied for second on the squad in blocks with six across three games.

During his youth hockey days, Sansbury played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings and at St. John Bosco High School.
