San Diego native Slaker picks up Big Ten Second Star weekly award
University of Michigan sophomore forward Jake Slaker has been named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week.
Slaker, a San Diego native, registered three points, including a pair of goals, in Michigan’s weekend sweep of Vermont.
He assisted the game-winning goal in Friday’s 4-1 victory and netted the game-tying and game-winning goals in the Wolverines’ 3-2 come-from-behind victory on Saturday.
This is Slaker’s second career weekly award and first of the season.
In his youth hockey days, Slaker skated for the UTC Jaguars, Kroc Center Saints, SDIA and the LA Hockey Club.
He was tabbed California Rubber Magazine‘s Junior Player of the Year for the 2015-16 season.
