“Ethan is a natural-born leader that does the right thing on and off the ice,” said BSU head coach Tom Serratore. “He leads by example but also understands when his voice is needed in the locker room. He has had the good fortune of learning this role from some great leaders during his time at BSU, so there is no doubt that he is ready to be our captain.”

During his junior season, he established a career-high 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) to rank eighth on the team in scoring. His single-season-best six goals was tied for eighth amongst his teammates, while his 12 assists nearly doubled his previous career-best.

Somoza saved his best for WCHA play posting 15 (five goals, 10 assists) of his 18 points in BSU’s 28 league contests, which included netting one of the Beavers’ five short-handed goals.

In 104 collegiate games, the Los Angeles Selects and California Titans graduate has accumulated 36 points (12 goals, 24 assists).
