Nieto, a 19-year-old Yorba Linda native, played for the North American Hockey League’s Janesville Jets this year, posting a 21-5-2 record in 31 regular-season appearances, including three shutouts, to go along with a 2.00 goals-against average and .929 save percentage.

“Very proud and excited to announce my commitment to Union College,” Nieto posted on his Twitter. “I can’t thank the coaches and players enough who have helped me along the way. Most importantly to my parents who have sacrificed everything to get me to where I am today. Go Dutchmen!”

Located in Schenectady, N.Y., Union College competes in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Nieto’s brother, goaltender and former Jr. King Gavin Nieto, recently completed his sophomore season at Brown University (ECAC).
