California products Petrie, Smigliani recognized with weekly ECAC Hockey awards

 

ECAC Hockey has announced its women’s weekly award winners, and a pair of California natives earned honors from the league.

Dominique Petrie (Harvard) was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week and Sammy Smigliani (Colgate) was tabbed ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, both for the week ending Jan. 5, 2020.

petriePetrie, a sophomore from Hermosa Beach, had a monster week for the Crimson, leading the nation with 10 points on six goals and four assists. She registered two points in all three Harvard wins, including a five-point (three goals, two assists) performance against Union on Friday night, her first career hat trick.

The Anaheim Jr. Ducks, Los Angeles Jr. Kings and San Diego Jr. Gulls grad is now ranked eighth in the nation with 1.71 points per-game.

Smigliani_SammyWEBSmigliani, a Jr. Gulls, California Wave and Anaheim Lady Ducks alum and freshman out of La Jolla, recorded five points (goal, four assists) in two games for Colgate this weekend in the “Battle at the Burgh.”

She had an assist on the Raiders’ lone goal in Friday’s 1-1 tie against No. 3 Northeastern, before scoring and dishing out three assists against Robert Morris on Saturday.
