California products Armstrong, Heinze nab weekly NCDC honors

The USPHL has announced its weekly award winners with two players from California taking home NCDC honors in the New England Division.

Defense: Kaden Armstrong – Thunder Hockey Club

Blueliner Kaden Armstrong (’06) was a bright spot for the Thunder over the weekend, putting up four points in two games.

The San Diego native scored his first goal of the season and added an assist in Friday’s 4-2 loss to Universel Academy. He matched that effort the next night with another two-point performance in a 7-5 setback. Armstrong has totaled two goals and four assists in five games this year.

Back home, Armstrong played for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, Los Angeles Jr. Kings, San Diego Jr. Gulls and Pacific Ridge High School.

Rookie: Eli Heinze – South Shore Kings

South Shore rookie forward Eli Heinze (’05) continued to impress with a goal in each of his two appearances last week. The Santa Barbara product opened the scoring in Wednesday’s 3-2 win, then netted the game-winner in another 3-2 victory on Saturday. Heinze has three goals through his first five games of the season.

In California, Heinze skated for the Santa Clarita Flyers and the Santa Barbara Royals high school squad.
