Tustin native, Saints, Ice Dogs, Jr. Ducks alum Connelly named AHL’s top rookie for March
Henderson Silver Knights forward Trevor Connelly has been selected as the AHL Rookie of the Month for March.
Connelly recorded points in all 15 of Henderson’s games in March, totaling three goals and 17 assists while helping the Silver Knights to a 10-2-1-2 record.
Connelly’s 15-game scoring streak – the longest in team history – began on March 1 when he recorded two assists vs. Colorado. He tallied two goals in a 7-6 overtime win at Tucson on March 11 and scored the winning goal as part of a two-point night in Abbotsford on March 14. Connelly notched two more assists on March 22 vs. Texas and had an assist each in back-to-back games at Milwaukee on March 27-28.
Seven of his 20 points came on the power play as Henderson went 18 for 51 (35.3 percent) with the man advantage during March.
Connelly, a first-round choice (19th overall) by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2024 NHL Draft, leads the entire AHL in scoring since the All-Star break with 30 points (eight goals, 22 assists) in 21 games, and has totaled 11 goals and 29 assists for 40 points in 38 contests on the season – good for second among AHL rookies in points per game (1.05).
A 20-year-old native of Tustin, Connelly played the 2024-25 season at NCAA Division I Providence and won a gold medal with the United States at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Back home, Connelly played for the San Diego Saints, Anaheim Ice Dogs and Anaheim Jr. Ducks.
