Santa Clarita native, Jr. Kings alum Socha inks deal with WHL’s Thunderbirds
The WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds have signed defenseman Micah Socha.
The Santa Clarita native recently attended his first training camp with the Thunderbirds and played in the rookie preseason game last weekend versus Everett, earning two assists.
“Micah was impressive right from the first session of camp,” said Seattle assistant general manager Craig Goebel. “His skating and offensive ability really stood out. We feel he has the tools to be an impact defenseman in this league.”
The Thunderbirds listed Socha this past spring. The 2010-born blueliner played last season with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres 15U AAA team, recording 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 20 games.
Back home, Socha played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
