California natives Herrera, McNeil snag monthly player honors from USPHL

Two California natives have bagged monthly honors from the USPHL for the month of January.

Ogden Mustangs forward Cade Herrera (Brentwood) is a Forward of the Month for the Mountain Division and Fresno Monsters forward Tyler McNeil (Valencia) earned the same accolade for the Pacific Division.

Herrera, a 2002 birth year, scored in all but one of his eight January games, giving him a line of 8-4-12 to help him both over the 50-point mark for this season as well as over the 100-point mark for career points. He currently has 53 points this season, close to matching and possibly passing his 57 points from last year. Overall, he has 110 points in 86 USPHL regular-season games.

During his youth hockey career, Herrera played for the Golden State Elite Eagles and San Jose Jr. Sharks.

A second-time player of the month, the 2002-born McNeil joined his Fresno teammates in putting insane amounts of offense up throughout the month, in which they averaged 7.46 goals per game over 13 games! McNeil rang up a division-high 39 points in his 13 January games. His line was 17-22-39, which would be a really successful season-long stat line for almost anyone in the Premier. He ended the month on a still-active eight-game scoring streak of 12-20-34.

Back home, McNeil skated for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks and Valencia Jr. Flyers and at Tahoe Prep Academy.
