California natives Perry, Pool, Kennedy collect weekly USPHL accolades
The USPHL has announced that a trio of players with California connections has earned weekly awards.
Henderson Force goalie Nicholas Perry is the Pacific Premier Division Goaltender of the Week, Carolina Jr. Hurricaned blueliner Alec Pool is the Southeast Premier Defenseman of the Week, and Hampton Roads Whalers goalie Janic Kennedy is the Southeast Elite Division Goaltender of the Week.
Perry (‘05/Chino Hills) put up three wins as the Force earned a big sweep against the Bakersfield Roughnecks to extend their winning streak to five games and move into second place in the Pacific Division. He stopped 82 of 89 shots for the weekend, good for a .921 save percentage and a 2.33 GAA. Overall, he is 6-3-0-0 and on a four-game winning streak.
Back home, Perry played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings, high school hockey for Mater Dei and Placentia-Yorba Linda USD, and for the USPHL’s San Diego Sabers.
The Premier veteran blueliner Pool (‘04/Monrovia) repeats here after registering a goal and two assists for a second straight weekend series. Pool improved to 13 points in 20 games for this season and 63 points in 90 career Premier contests.
In California, Pool played for the California Golden Bears, California Wave and Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
Kennedy (‘04/Mission Viejo) won one game and lost another in a shootout, albeit earning a shutout in that loss by making 31 saves in 65 minutes. All in all, he stopped 54 of 57 total shots for a .947 save percentage on the weekend to earn three points against the Carolina Jr. Hurricanes.
For this season, Kennedy is 8-3-0-1 with a .943 save percentage.
Prior to junior hockey, Kennedy played for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks and San Diego Saints.
