California trio of Porciuncula, Scarbrough, Perry garner weekly USPHL awards
The USPHL has announced that a trio of California products have earned weekly awards.
Christopher Porciuncula of the Long Beach Bombers is the Pacific Premier Division Forward of the Week, Northern Cyclones forward Justin Scarbrough is the New England Premier Division Forward of the Week, and Henderson Force goalie Nicholas Perry is the Pacific Premier Division Goaltender of the Week.
A third-year junior veteran, Porciuncula, an ‘05 from Artesia, racked up back-to-back hat tricks on Nov. 1-2, including a four-goal game on Nov. 1 against Ventura. He enjoyed a 3-4-7 line on Nov. 2 to give him 11 points for the week, tied for the most in all of the Premier between Oct. 29-Nov. 4.
In California, Porciuncula played for the California Wave, California Golden Bears and Anaheim Ice Dogs.
Scarbrough, an ‘04 Redondo Beach native and Jr. Kings alum, was immense in putting a 3-4-7 line up on Nov. 2, bringing his points per game up to an even 1.00 points per game average.
A second-year USPHL Premier veteran, Perry, a 2005 birth year from Chino Hills, evened out his season record with a win against the Northwest Division’s Iron County Yeti, making 23 saves on 24 shots.
He improved to a .915 save percentage and already equaled his 2023-24 wins total at 3-3-0 this year.
Back home, Perry played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings, high school hockey for Mater Dei and Placentia-Yorba Linda USD, and for the USPHL’s San Diego Sabers.
