Capistrano showcases California high school talent with 2021 run to USA Hockey Nationals
After winning a California state high school championship and advancing to the USA Hockey National Tournament, the Capistrano Coyotes found themselves in the national title game earlier this week.
In a heartbreaker, the Coyotes were defeated by the hometown Omaha Jr. Lancers 5-4 in overtime in the Division II national championship on Monday.
It was Capistrano’s first-ever national championship game, coming after their win at the 2020-21 CAHA high school Division 2A state championship on March 27.
