The NEWHA has announced that Sacred Heart junior blueliner Anastasia Sloan is the Defensive Player of the Week.

Sloan played important minutes for the Pioneers, playing a sound defensive performance in a midweek match against Harvard before potting her first goal of the season against LIU. Her game-winning score handed the Sharks their first loss of the season.

A staple on the SHU penalty kill, the Covina native was part of a unit that killed 23 straight penalties before going 5 for 6 during this week’s action.

Back home, Sloan spent time with the Jr. Reign.
