Former Jr. Sharks captain Laubach commits to NCAA Division I powerhouse Minnesota State

San Jose native Reese Laubach has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Minnesota State University.

Laubach, who played his entire career for the San Jose Jr. Sharks before leaving this season due to the pandemic, will begin his college career with the 2022-23 season.

Last season, Laubach captained the Jr. Sharks’ 16U AAA team and collected 41 goals and 85 points in 72 games.

He’s currently playing for the Northstar Christian Academy 18U AAA team in Alexandria, Minn., where he has tallied 20 goals and 50 points in 34 games.

Minnesota State has emerged as a college hockey powerhouse in recent years. The Mavericks currently play in the WCHA and will be part of the new-look CCHA starting with the 2021-22 season.
