Four players with California connections taken in Phase I of 2017 USHL Draft
Several players with California ties were selected on Monday night, May 1, during Phase I of the United States Hockey League Draft.
Phase I this year was for 2001 birth year players only.
1st Round, 3rd overall
Ryan Johnson (Irvine native, Anaheim Jr. Ducks 16U AAA) – Sioux Falls Stampede
2nd Round, 24th overall
Nick Kent (Ladera Ranch native, Jr. Ducks, LA Jr. Kings alum) – Green Bay Gamblers
8th Round, 117th overall
Kristof Papp (Jr. Kings) – Madison Capitols
10th Round, 152nd overall
Brendan Brisson (Marina del Rey native, Jr. Kings) – Green Bay Gamblers
Phase II of the draft, for all players born 1997-2001, is slated to start at 8 a.m. CDT on Tuesday, May 2.
