Penn State freshman Karley Garcia has been named the CHA Defenseman of the Week.

Garcia had a special first week in her first two games as a Nittany Lion, making her collegiate debut on Thursday against St. Lawrence and scoring her first career goal in the second period of game two of the series with the Saints on Friday.

Her blast from the point sparked a two-goal comeback for PSU as the Nittany Lions rallied to tie SLU 2-2 in the series finale.

The Roseville native had a team-high seven shots for the weekend, including a game-high six shots in the second game.

During her youth hockey career, Garcia played for the Golden State Elite Eagles.
