Jr. Kings alum Burke garners Big Ten First Star of the Week award
University of Minnesota freshman forward Nathan Burke has been named the Big Ten First Star of the Week.
Burke tied for the Big Ten lead and tied for fourth in the nation with four points (two goals, two assists) over the weekend as the Gophers swept then-No. 2 Ohio State.
The Los Angeles Jr. Kings alum opened the weekend with his first career three-point game in Friday’s 4-3 win, scoring a goal and adding two assists (the Gophers are now 3-0-0 this year when Burke records a multi-point game).
Burke followed up with another goal in another 4-3 win on Saturday as Minnesota improved to 2-0-2 this year against the Big Ten-leading Buckeyes.
He finished the weekend with a plus-5 rating.
In 22 games this year, Burke has recorded 14 points (five goals, nine assists).
