Jr. Kings alum, Manhattan Beach native Shane cops monthly ECAC Hockey accolades

For the second consecutive month, Cornell junior goaltender Ian Shane has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Month.

Over his six appearances in November, Shane posted a 3-1-1 record with a 2.10 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. Shane ended up stopping 108 of the 119 shots he faced in the month.

His 2.10 GAA was second in ECAC Hockey, trailing Clarkson’s Austin Roden, who had a 1.34 mark over 179:39 across three appearances. The .908 save percentage was third in the conference, trailing Roden (.946) and Dartmouth’s Cooper Black (.929).

The Manhattan Beach native opened the month with a pair of victories over Yale and Brown in which he allowed a combined two goals, making 34 saves. He capped off the month with a season-high 35 saves in the Big Red’s victory over then-No. 5-ranked Boston University at Madison Square Garden, guiding Cornell to its fourth consecutive Kelley-Harkness Cup.

Back home, Shane played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
