Jr. Kings grad, Manhattan Beach native Shane earns ECAC Hockey weekly honors for sixth time in ’23-24
Cornell junior goaltender Ian Shane has been named ECAC Hockey’s Goaltender of the Week for the sixth time this season.
Shane is coming off a weekend where he posted a 1-0-1 record with a 0.48 goals-against average and a .963 save percentage (26 saves on 27 shots) in contests against ECAC Hockey and Ivy League rivals Brown and Yale. The goals-against average and save percentage figures were both the best by any ECAC Hockey netminder.
Against Brown, Shane recorded his 11th collegiate shutout after stopping all 10 Bears shots he faced in the Big Red’s 3-0 victory. goaltender.
On Saturday, the Manhattan Beach native aided the Big Red in recording its Ivy League-leading 26th title with its shootout victory over Yale. During his 65 minutes between the pipes, Shane made 16 saves as the Big Red and Bulldogs battled to a 1-1 tie.
During Cornell’s active 14-game unbeaten streak, Shane has amassed a 10-0-4 record with a 1.32 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage. Since the calendar flipped to 2024, Shane has compiled a 10-0-2 record with a 1.22 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage.
Across his 24 appearances this season, Shane has a 16-2-5 record with a 1.52 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
