Jr. Kings graduate, Cypress native Minnehan collects weekly NAHL honors
The NAHL has announced that Northeast Generals forward Paul Minnehan is the East Division Star of the Week.
Minnehan, a 19-year-old Arizona State recruit from Cypress, had a big weekend to help the Generals pick up a weekend road sweep of the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks, picking up four points in the two wins.
“Paul had a monster weekend for us,” said Generals coach Bryan Erikson. “We needed our captains to step up to get us in a good spot at the halfway mark and Paul did just that. He factored in all four goals this weekend. The power play had grown a bit stale, so we moved Paul around and he was able to help rejuvenate it. Paul is a big-time player that loves the big moments.”
On Friday, Minnehan scored both goals, including the overtime winner, in a 2-1 win. On Saturday, Minnehan again scored the game-winning goal and had an assist in a 2-1 win.
For the season, Minnehan is second in team scoring with 36 points (15 goals, 21 assists) in 27 games. He is also tied for second in league scoring.
During his youth hockey days, Minnehan skated for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
