Penn State first-year goaltender Morgan Stickney has been named Atlantic Hockey America Rookie of the Week.

Stickney, a Missouri native, made 44 saves in her collegiate debut Thursday against No. 2 Ohio State, helping Penn State force overtime for the first time in program history against the Buckeyes before falling 2-1. Her 44 saves were the most by a Penn State goaltender making her collegiate debut since the 2016–17 season.

Before Thursday, Penn State had also not played Ohio State to a one-goal game in more than a decade since a 3-2 win against the Buckeyes on Jan. 3, 2016. 

The series also marked the first time Penn State and Ohio State have played back-to-back games decided by one goal in over a decade since a 2-1 loss on Jan. 2, 2016, and the 3-2 win Jan. 3, 2016.

During youth hockey, Stickney played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings and LA Lions.
