Atlantic Hockey has announced that Sacred Heart junior defenseman Hunter Sansbury is the Defensive Player of the Week.

Sansbury once again led Atlantic Hockey in blocked shots on the weekend with 11 in two games against AIC. The effort saw the Lomita native become the 13th player in Atlantic Hockey history to surpass 200 career blocked shots.

Offensively, he notched three points on a goal and two assists against the Yellow Jackets, including the secondary assist on Mikey Adamson’s overtime game-winner on Friday.

He matched his career high with seven blocks on Saturday night, to headline a 22-block outing for the Pioneers.

This is his fifth career Atlantic Hockey weekly honor.

During his youth hockey days, Sansbury played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
