Manhattan Beach native, Jr. Kings product Shane garners weekly award from ECAC Hockey

Cornell junior Ian Shane has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week for the fourth time this season.

The weekly honor marks the 10th time that Shane has been tabbed the conference’s top netminder during his two-plus seasons with the Big Red program. Shane is also the first Cornell netminder to earn at least four Goaltender of the Week awards since Mitch Gillam in 2015-16, when he received the accolade five times.

This past weekend, Shane stopped 41 out of 45 shots he faced in Cornell’s 0-0-2 weekend at the 2023 Adirondack Winter Invitational against a pair of top-15 opponents in No. 11 UMass and No. 13 Arizona State. The Manhattan Beach native concluded the week with a 1.85 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

Across 12 appearances this season, Shane has compiled a 6-2-3 record with a 1.85 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.

During his youth hockey days, Shane played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
