Jr. Sharks grad Celebrini keeps honors rolling, named Hockey East, HCA National Rookie of the Month

Boston University freshman Macklin Celebrini has been named Hockey East Rookie of the Month and the Hockey Commissioners Association National Rookie of the Month.

After helping lead BU to its second straight Frozen Four appearance, Celebrini is now a two-time Hockey East Rookie of the Month in addition to being chosen as the league’s Player of the Month for October.

The Vancouver, B.C., native was second in the nation among all players with 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in just seven games, making his 2.29 points per game an NCAA-best. He logged at least one point in all seven outings, including five multi-point games. That includes both games of the NCAA Sioux Falls Regional, where he totaled five points (1 goal, 4 assists).

The San Jose Jr. Sharks alum notched three primary assists in the regional final against Minnesota and scored one goal and one assist in the semifinal against RIT en route to being named Most Outstanding Player of the regional.

A Hobey Baker Award finalist, Celebrini is just the fourth player to be named Hockey East Rookie and Player of the Year in the same season.
