Lady Ducks grad, Laguna Hills native Pankowski named WCHA Forward of the Week
The women’s WCHA today recognized four student-athletes as the WCHA Players of the Week, including University of Wisconsin redshirt-senior Annie Pankowski as Forward of the Week.
Pankowski tied for the NCAA lead with a WCHA-best three goals and extended her goal-scoring streak to seven straight games, the third-longest in Wisconsin history, in leading the top-ranked Badgers to a league road sweep at St. Cloud State.
The Laguna Hills native scored a pair of second-period goals in UW’s 8-2 win Friday before adding an empty-net, power-play goal in the final seconds of Saturday’s 3-1 victory.
Pankowski, who has nine goals (and 12 points) during her seven-game run, now has a WCHA-high 14 goals this season, despite missing two games due to the Four Nations Cup.
This is Pankowski’s second WCHA weekly award of the 2018-19 season and her eighth career honor.
During her youth days, Pankowski skated for the Anaheim Lady Ducks.
