Laguna Hills native, Lady Ducks grad Pankowski cops WCHA Forward of the Month laurels

The WCHA announced its players of the month for December and Laguna Hills native and Anaheim Lady Ducks alum Annie Pankowski pinned down Forward of the Month honors with the University of Wisconsin.

This is Pankowski’s first career WCHA monthly award.

Pankowski was fantastic in December, recording a WCHA-best eight points on a league-high five goals and three assists, helping top-ranked Wisconsin to a perfect 4-0-0 month.

She tied for second in the country for points and goals, while her 2.00 points-per-game and 1.25 goals-per-contest averages were third and second, respectively.

The redshirt senior scored a goal in each of the Badgers’ four December contests, extending her goal-scoring streak to seven straight games – the third-longest such streak in program history.

Pankowski also tied the school record for most career short-handed goals with her eighth such effort in UW’s 9-1 victory over Syracuse on Dec. 2 (part of a four-point game). She also scored three goals in a Dec. 7-8 road sweep at St. Cloud State, helping UW finish the month with an NCAA-best 26 goals (6.50 per game).

Pankowski enters 2019 with a WCHA-best 14 goals this season, tied for the third-best mark nationally.
