Atlantic Hockey announced today that Sacred Heart sophomore defenseman Hunter Sansbury is the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Sansbury dished out a pair of assists, recorded three shots and was plus-2 as the Pioneers swept away Mercyhurst at home.

The Lomita native picked up the primary assist on Neil Shea‘s overtime game-winner on Thursday to complete the Pios’ rally from a 3-0 third-period deficit. On Friday, he notched the primary assist on Braeden Tuck‘s second-period game-winner.

This is his second career Atlantic Hockey weekly honor and first this season.

In California, Sansbury skated for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings and St. John Bosco High School.
