Newport Beach native, longtime Jr. Ducks goalie Comeau signs to play ’22-23 with MJHL’s Flyers
The Winkler Flyers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League have announced that the club has signed goaltender Aidan Comeau.
Comeau, a native of Newport Beach, spent the 2021-22 season playing for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks’ 18U AAA team. In 23 games, he recorded a .920 save percentage and 2.60 goals-against average. He also played seven games for the Jr. Ducks in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League where he put up a .901 save percentage and 2.84 GAA.
“It feels great,” said Comeau. “It sounds like an amazing organization and city, and I’m excited to play there.
“I chose the Flyers because my coach this year helped influence me and saw Winkler as a good fit for me and they had a lot of success as a team last year. I’m excited to learn from former NHLers. They obviously have a lot of experience in the sport and know what it takes to get to the next level.”
“Aidan is coming off a successful season with his hometown Anaheim Jr. Ducks,” added Winkler coach-GM Justin Falk. “Through the conversations with Aidan, his coaching staff and his parents, it was clear Aidan’s passion for the game and competing. We look forward to Aidan developing his game further at the Junior A hockey level.”
