Oilers, Jr. Kings alum, San Diego native Buium pins down weekly NCHC honors
Denver sophomore Zeev Buium has been chosen NCHC Defenseman of the Week.
Buium takes home his second top defender award of the season and the fifth overall in his career. He also picked up Defenseman of the Week honors earlier this campaign on Nov. 18.
The San Diego native picked up a goal and two assists on Friday night in Denver’s 4-1 win over Miami at Magness Arena. It was his third three-point game of the season, eighth of his career, and his sixth multi-point contest of the campaign. In DU’s 6-2 win on Saturday, he recorded an assist and marked the 10th game of the season where he blocked at least one shot.
Buium ranks second in both the NCAA and on the team with the most assists at 19, behind only Denver forward Jack Devine. He is tied for the nation’s lead in scoring among defensemen with 24 points, which also ranks third on the Pios.
The SDIA Oilers and Los Angeles Jr. Kings alum has registered 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in the past 10 games he’s played in dating back to Nov. 15 at North Dakota.
