OneHockey brings aboard former NHLer Seiling as girls tournament director
Ric Seiling played 10 years in the NHL and later worked for NHL Central Scouting and coached in the junior and pro hockey ranks.
He was also part of the NWHL (National Women’s Hockey League) during the league’s inaugural season five seasons ago, leading the Buffalo Beauts to the Isobel Cup championship.
These days, Seiling is staying involved with the game, serving as OneHockey’s girls tournament director.
“We are beyond grateful that Ric has decided to join OneHockey in growing the girl’s side of ice hockey tournaments,” said OneHockey CEO Sebastien Fortier. “Ric is someone that has proven playing and coaching experience and we are happy to have him bring his knowledge and skills to the OneHockey team.”
During a successful career with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres and Detroit Red Wings, Seiling collected 179 goals and 208 assists for 387 points in his 10-year career.
Acting as the head coach, co-coach, and GM of the Beauts for the first four seasons, Seiling led the team to the Isobel Cup in 2017 and guided the Beauts to the NWHL championship game every year during his involvement.
While in Buffalo, Seiling also coached the 2016 NWHL All-Star Game, which included many of the United States women’s gold medal Olympians.
“OneHockey, the premier youth ice hockey tournament group, is proud to have Ric among our staff to lead the initiative to grow women’s hockey,” Fortier said. “OneHockey has been hosting the very best tournaments for AAA, AA, A, and B boys teams for the past 13 years, but will now open its doors to female athletes, being led by Ric.
“As part of Ric coming on board with OneHockey, we will be adding many new tournaments across North America highlighting female youth ice hockey competition.”
