Five Jr. Reign standouts pick up postseason honors, camp invitations

As the 2020-21 youth hockey season nears its conclusion with just national tournaments left on the dockets, five Jr. Reign players have earned recognition for the past season.

Jr. Reign 18U AAA defenseman Justin Koepke has been named an NAPHL Tier I division All-Star this season and has also been confirmed as an invite to the official USHL Combine, the top junior league in the United States.

This past season, Koepke tallied two goals and nine points in 38 games for the Jr. Reign.

Koepke’s teammate, forward Tyler Donovan, has also been selected to the NAPHL Tier I division All-Star team after a 22-goal, 36-point season in 42 games.

Jr. Reign 16U AAA defenseman Gavin Mears was also named to the NAPHL All-Star team and has been invited to the Medicine Hat Tigers’ main WHL camp later this offseason.

A pair of 2004 birth years, defenseman Camden Lewis (18U AAA) and forward Xavier Belgrade (16U AAA), have advanced to the CAHA Select Camp, the next round of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program selection process.

Lewis registered three goals and nine points over 42 games this past season, while Belgrade collected 20 goals and 29 points in 44 games.

The Jr. Reign 18U AAA team emerged as a finalist in the state tournament and played at the Pacific District Championships in Arizona. This was the second time in the last three seasons the Jr. Reign 18U AAA team has advanced to districts.
