San Carlos native, Golden State Elite grad Cosentino garners weekly NAHL award
The NAHL announced Monday that Aberdeen Wings captain Clayton Cosentino has been named the Central Division Star of the Week.
Currently the NAHL’s leading scorer with 13 points (two goals, 11 assists), the 20-year-old Cosentino added to his point total this past weekend as the Wings stayed perfect on the season with a weekend home sweep of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
“Clayton is a natural leader,” said Wings head coach Scott Langer. “He leads this team in various ways, but his work ethic is his biggest leadership asset. That work ethic fuels the rest of this team, and it is contagious. Clayton’s weekend was another product of that, and we are very proud that he is the captain of the Aberdeen Wings.”
The Air Force recruit and San Carlos native posted three points (two goals, assist) and was plus-2 in the two wins.
On Friday, Cosentino had a goal and an assist in a 6-3 win, and then on Saturday, he recorded another goal in a 4-1 win. His 13 points are currently tops in the NAHL.
During his youth career, Cosentino skated for the Santa Clara Blackhawks, Black Stars and Golden State Elite Eagles/California Cougars.
