Six with California ties taken in annual NAHL Draft
A half dozen players with connections to California were selected in the annual North American Hockey League Draft, which was conducted on June 7, including two that were taken in the first round.
Devin Cooley (Los Gatos), G – Springfield Jr. Blues (1st round, 12th overall) – Jr. Sharks alum
Shane McMahan (Irvine), F – Aston Rebels (1st round, 17th overall) – OC Hockey, Jr. Ducks, Jr. Kings alum
Coby Downs (Montclair), F – Minnesota Wilderness (2nd round, 42nd overall) – Ontario Avalanche 18U, WSHL alum
Robbie McClellan (Palos Verdes), D – Minot Minotauros (7th round, 163rd overall)
Cooper Haar (Huntington Beach), F – Bismarck Bobcats (9th round, 213th overall) – Jr. Ducks 16U AAA
Ryan Newman (Bakersfield), D – Northeast Generals (12th round, 265th overall)
