He returned to the NAHL this season where he started off the year playing 13 games with the Kenai River Brown Bears. After his short stint in Alaska, Yates made the switch to the North Iowa Bulls for 25 games before finishing out the year with the Mountain Kings for the remaining 14 games of the season.

In total, Yates recorded 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) in 52 games across the three clubs.

Back home, Yates played for the San Jose Jr. Sharks and Golden State Elite Eagles.
