California natives Koenig, Chominsky earn weekly EHL, EHLP honors
Two California natives have been honored this week by the EHL and EHLP.
The EHL has announced that goaltender Alex Koenig of the Express Hockey Club is the East Division Star of the Week.
Koenig, an ’04 native of Manhattan Beach, showed no signs of slowing down this week with two more solid starts in net. The first was a big 3-2 win over the New Hampshire Avalanche where he allowed two goals and had 41 saves. Koenig followed that up with a 2-1 overtime win against HC Rhode Island where he had 24 saves.
Koenig continues to shine and is a huge part of the Express success. In 22 appearances, Koenig is 17-2 with a 1.65 GAA.
Back home, Koenig starred for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks and Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
The South Division Star of the Week for the EHLP is forward Kale Chominsky from the New Jersey Renegades.
The ’04 native of Los Angeles put up three goals and two assists in two games played this week. Chominsky had the lone goal in a 3-1 loss to the New Jersey 87’s. The next day he had two goals and two assists in a 7-4 win against the Philly Little Flyers.
In 19 games with the Renegades this season, Chominsky has 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists).
In California, Chominsky played for the Orange County Hockey Club and high school hockey for the South Bay Stingrays.
