California natives Stefan, Hovsepyan collect weekly honors from NAHL
The NAHL has announced its players of the week, with two California natives taking home the honors.
The East Division Star of the Week is Danbury Hat Tricks forward Wyatt Stefan, while the Midwest Division Star of the Week is Anchorage Wolverines forward Arvega Hovsepyan.
Stefan totalled six points over three games with Danbury. The Laguna Beach native started off the week on Tuesday with a three-point game, adding two goals. Friday started a two-game series for the Hat Tricks against the Philadelphia Rebels. Friday night, Stefan added an assist, then followed up on Saturday adding a go-ahead assist, then the game-winning goal in the Hat Tricks’ 3-2 win.
Stefan leads Danbury in scoring this season with 44 points (22 goals, 22 assists) over 53 games.
“Wyatt has done a lot of little things away from the puck that helped him in his offensive production,” Danbury head coach Patrik Stefan said.
Hovsepyan was a key factor in the Wolverines’ weekend sweep on home ice against the Janesville Jets. The Los Angeles native posted a goal in Friday night’s 5-3 win. In Saturday night’s contest, Hovsepyan scored a goal in the second and third period that put the Wolverines over the Jets by a score of 5-1.
Hovsepyan, a Los Angeles Jr. Kings alum, has played in 19 games this season and has totalled 25 points with 11 goals and 14 assists.
