California trio of Kavetsky, Bitus, Wilson takes home weekly USPHL awards

The USPHL has announced its weekly awards, with one each from California taking home honors in the NCDC, USPHL Premier and USPHL Elite.

Jersey Hitmen goalie Jack Kavetsky is the NCDC Atlantic Division Rookie of the Week, Thunder Hockey Club forward Oleg Bitus is the New England Premier Division Forward of the Week, and Decatur Blaze forward Connor Wilson is the Midwest Elite Division Forward of the Week.

In Saturday’s 1-0 victory against the new West Chester Wolves, the junior rookie Kavetsky, an ‘06 from Westminster, came out and was perfect, with 27 saves on 27 shots to earn a shutout in his junior debut.

Back home, Kavetsky played for the Anaheim Ice Dogs and Anaheim Jr. Ducks.

Bitus, a 2005 birth year out of Los Angeles, put together a strong performance, posting a hat trick in the Thunder’s sole game of the past week. He improved to six goals through the 2024-25 season so far.

He joined the Thunder this year out of the KIJHL and previously played with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings, Jr. Ducks and Orange County Hockey Club.

A 2004 birth year from Livermore, Wilson registered three goals and six assists for nine points, which gave him an average of 2.5 points per game for the four games played at the all-Elite showcase in Decatur.

In California, Wilson played for the Tri-Valley Blue Devils and Tri-Valley Bulls.
