Dana Point native, California youth hockey alum Raabe starts pro career with ECHL’s Grizzlies

The ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies have signed forward Dakota Raabe for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

Raabe played this season at NCAA Division I Sacred Heart University, where he tallied eight points (two goals, six assists) in 34 games.

“We are so happy for Dakota as he starts his pro career. His speed and relentless forechecking will be a welcomed addition to Utah,” said Sacred Heart head coach C.J. Marottolo. “Dakota has earned this opportunity, and all of us here at Sacred Heart are proud of him for accomplishing the next step in his career.”

The Dana Point native also skated at the University of Michigan for four seasons from 2017-2021, where he scored 11 goals and added 22 assists over 115 games for the Wolverines.

Back home, Raabe played through his second 16U season with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings. Prior to that, he spent a year with the California Wave and his earlier years with the LA Selects.
