Foothill Ranch native, Jr. Kings, Jr. Ducks alum Huard tabbed Hockey East Defender of the Month
University of New Hampshire freshman defenseman Colton Huard has been named the Hockey East Defender of the Month for January.
This is his first career Hockey East monthly award.
Huard posted four goals and five assists for nine points over five games during the month of January as the Wildcats went 4-1-0. His four goals and nine points led the team, while his five assists were tied for first. He was also second on the team with six blocks. He recorded at least one point in every game in the month.
The Foothill Ranch native was named the Hockey East Defender of the Week on Jan. 10 and the Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Jan. 17. On Jan. 8 in the 5-1 win over Clarkson, Huard tallied one goal and three assists for four points.
Huard is currently on a six-game point streak with four goals and six assists for 10 points during that span.
For the season, he has five goals and nine assists for 14 points. His 14 points are tied for fifth among Hockey East rookies.
Huard played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings and Anaheim Jr. Ducks during his youth hockey career.
