Golden State Elite, Vacaville, Jr. Ducks grad, Davis native Millward chosen for weekly NAHL honor

The NAHL announced today that Janesville Jets goaltender Owen Millward is the Midwest Division Star of the Week.

Millward, 18, helped his club to two wins over the weekend as the Jets swept a three-game series at home against the Kenai River Brown Bears.

The Davis native won back-to-back starts allowing just two goals on 56 shots.

“Owen was terrific in the two games he started for us this weekend,” said Jets head coach Parker Burgess. “He made every save he needed to and gave our players a ton of confidence knowing he was back there for us. He’s worked really hard on his game all season and is very invested in our culture and being a Jet, so it is nice to see him get recognized for those efforts.”

On Friday, Millward posted his third shutout of the season, making 24 saves in a 6-0 win. On Saturday, he made 30 saves in a 3-2 overtime win.

For the season, Millward has a 13-7-0 record in 22 appearances to go along with a 3.05 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage.

During his youth hockey days, Millward played for the Golden State Elite Eagles, Vacaville Jets and Anaheim Jr. Ducks.
