Jr. Kings alum Yu, Jr. Reign grad Croteau earn weekly NCAA conference honors
A pair of California connections have picked up weekly NCAA conference honors.
Baldwin Park native and Los Angeles Jr. Kings alum Anthony Yu is the Atlantic Hockey America Rookie of the Week, while Jr. Reign grad Emmett Croteau is the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week.
Yu, an Air Force freshman, was the hero of Saturday’s first-round win, as he potted the game-winning goal in double overtime to advance the Falcons to the quarterfinals. Yu’s goal came on the power play at 13:30 of the second overtime on assists from Chris Hedden and Clayton Cosentino. It was the first game-winning goal of Yu’s career.
In addition to his late heroics, Yu fired two shots on goal and blocked two shots in Saturday’s contest.
Croteau, a Dartmouth sophomore from Bonnyville, Alta., and a Montreal Canadiens 2022 sixth-round draft pick, recorded a save percentage of .941, amassing 48 saves across both wins this weekend.
