Jr. Sharks product, San Jose native Laubach tabbed for weekly Big Ten Hockey honors

Penn State freshman Reese Laubach has been named Big Ten Hockey’s Third Star of the Week following a three-goal, four-point weekend in a home split against No. 14 Michigan.

This marks the first weekly accolade for the rookie.

Laubach led the Big Ten with three goals in the two games while his four points were also tops in the conference over the weekend and tied for the fifth most in the nation.

The San Jose native tallied a goal and an assist in Friday’s loss before registering his first career multi-goal game as he bookended the scoring in a 4-2 victory on Saturday night.

Laubach’s 10 goals this season are tied for the third most on the team and rank fourth in the Big Ten among freshmen. He’s added nine assists for 19 points a mark that’s good for sixth on the team and 10th in the conference for rookie scoring.

Back home, Laubach skated for the San Jose Jr. Sharks and Valley Christian High School.
